Independence's Museum

The Independence museum is important because it is the place where the declaration of independence of Colombia took place. On July 20 of 1810 a group of people provoked José Gonzales Llorente, owner of this house and of the store located in it, by requesting a vase to be used at a banquet that was to be held in honor of The Royal Commissioner Antonio Villavicencio. He did not lend the vase and the creoles began a revolution that ended with the declaration of Independence of the Nueva Granada from Spain.
